Best post I have read in a long time (course the last posts are always the best).
For years after I was born again, I did not actually know what 'follow after love' meant. Not really. I thought more or less it was showing love more often. It was sometime a few years after I was saved that God showed me that when I have a thought such as "I should go visit Sue today and pray with her" ......that I should have 'followed after this love'. Or, I thought, Mr. Brown has been off work and his grass is getting too high...I should have gone over and mowed his lawn. It was small and I could have done it. That would be following the love I felt, but did nothing about. Or, a co-worker's mom was in the hospital not expected to live. If I had followed right after the love and conern I felt, I would have gone to that hospital and been with her mom and daughter..praying and just being with the family , allowing the Spirit to comfort thru me.

Just so many times a day we have these thoughts as Christians and it is so pleasurable to 'follow after love' and do these things. Often they are very small things, such as a phone call, an email, food for the neighbors when someone in their family is sick and they have no time or energy to cook and stay at the hospital as well.

Prayer is 'following after love' also, but these people who come to our minds, need to be shown love.

Just thought I would share this , as might be some others who like me , did not know exactly what 'follow after love' meant.

Editing here to add that I have not had to 'follow after love' in anything that was too difficult for me to do. With love being an action, love always DOES whatever it is called on to do. Whereas I use to just sit there and think "Oh, that's too bad about Mr. Brown's lawn " or " I just hate that Mary's mom is sick" and praying for them, if we follow after love, most generally it is going and doing.
Sometimes it is prayer and only prayer, such as for missionaries, etc.
But, most of time is doing something in addition to prayer.

Hi Watchman 77,

God is at work in the life of each and every person, unfortunately not every person is thoughtful enough to acknowledge the presence of God in their own life and it is this lack of acknowledging God that causes the "sinner" to keep themselves separated from God, even though during their time here on earth God has not separated Himself from them, being separated then means eternity in hell.

All day long God is holding out His hand to a disobedient and rebellious people and all day long theses people are rejecting the love and kindness of God. This is not just rejection but in the cruelest forms of denial.

The Bible is clear that God has three Relationships with people. That God is present in three different locations concerning people. To describe a location a word that is called a Preposition is used. For instance in, on, around, through, over, near, above, under are all location words and are all Prepositions.

For some additional information on the locations of the Holy Spirit visit

http://64.177.86.85/articles/theology.html#Holy

The Bible uses three prepositions - locations (in Greek), to describe God's location to mankind.

1. Para where we get the English word "Parallel", meaning "Beside" God is beside each and every person, protecting them, guiding them, giving comfort and sustaining their life. God is in this location for every physically living person. It is this rejection that is rejecting God and all that He does in each of our lives.

2. Epi- "Upon" this is where God comes upon people to Supernaturally empower them according to His Devin will this is where prophecy, and many other Supernatural events of God take place.

3. En "In" This is the "Born Again" position of the human reunited with God inside of our own human spirit. This In filling of Gods Spirit only occurs by acknowledging the "Parallel" presence of God in our life.

Only the "Born Again" position is a Child of God. The "Born Again" position is Only Available through the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus. To say that everyone is "Born Again" as a child of God into the "Sinless" Image of Jesus is to deny the Cross and the Resurrection of Jesus. God is clear, that only through our acknowledging Jesus will He enter into an intimate relationship with us.

God Bless you,

David

Hello,
I'd like to add my "2 cents worth" to this thread if I may. :0)

It was stated that "Prayer is 'following after love' also, but these people who come to our minds, need to be shown love." I thought about the saying, "We (Christians) are the only Bible some people read". Also, in a song by Clint Black, he sings that love isn't something we simply have or find or even fall into...it's something that we do". Therefore, by our very actions, we speak volumes about God. Whether we're doing unto Christians or non-Christians isn't the focal point....obeying God is. And what a blessing to be used by God to both the giver and the receiver. :0)

That's all for now....

May God bless,

~Linn~

*I Thought this would also be a Blessing on this thread.

I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.
It is not for me to take away,
but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own! ,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

THIS DAY IS YOUR'S DON'T THROW IT AWAY

May God Bless You,

 might be the world"
